This year’s Volunteer of the Year award is
presented to Tim Simonson, Chair of the Second District Ethics Committee. For almost ten years, Tim has been a steady
fixture among the volunteers serving Minnesota’s discipline system. Tim spent four years as an investigator for
the Second DEC before being appointed Chair in 2018. He is currently in his fifth year of a
six-year term as Chair.
Tim is one of the nicest people you’ll
ever meet and exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated volunteer. As Chair, Tim supports and encourages the
volunteers of the Second DEC. He takes
time to express his appreciation for everyone’s volunteer service, and knows
and cares about each of the Second DEC’s members, several of whom he has
personally recruited.
No matter how busy Tim is with his
private practice, he always returns emails promptly, makes himself available to
provide guidance or encouragement on a difficult investigation, works to foster
a collegial and welcoming DEC environment where members feel comfortable
seeking and offering help and their opinions, and motivates and inspires others
to want to donate their time. He
does all this while co-owning a busy family law practice, raising two kids, and
perfecting a backyard ice rink.
Congratulations to Tim Simonson, this
year’s Volunteer of the Year. Thank you
for your dedicated service to the Second DEC and for your commitment to
assisting others in the ethical practice of law.
