Court Amends Rules of Professional Conduct
On July 16, 2010, a joint petition of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board to amend Rules 1.5 and 1.15, Minnesota Rules of Professional Conduct, was filed in the Minnesota Supreme Court. The parties request the Court to issue an order establishing a comment period and then setting the matter on for hearing upon conclusion of the comment period. The public comment period concluded on November 22, 2010, with no comments having been filed. On December 17, 2010, the Supreme Court prescribed and promulgated the Rules to be effective on July 1, 2011.Click here to view order and amendments.Click here to view petition.
